It is a colorless and transparent viscous liquid at room temperature, with hygroscopicity and ammonia odor. Miscible with water, ethanol and acetone, slightly soluble in ether and carbon tetrachloride. The melting point is 75~77℃ and the boiling point is 170.8℃. It is miscible with water, methanol and acetone, slightly soluble in benzene and ether, and slightly soluble in n-pentane. Strongly alkaline.

Application:
MEA is an important chemical raw material that can be used as a plasticizer, vulcanizing agent, accelerator and foaming agent for synthetic resins and rubbers, as well as an intermediate for pesticides, medicines and dyes. It is also a raw material for synthetic detergents and emulsifiers for cosmetics.
It is used in pharmaceuticals, spices, surfactants, coatings, emulsifiers, etc. It is also a leather softener and pesticide dispersant; it can also be used for gas purification to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide in the gas.
In the textile industry, it is used as a whitening agent, antistatic agent, anti-moth agent and detergent for printing and dyeing. It can also be used as carbon dioxide absorbent, ink additive, and petroleum additive. In the petroleum industry, it is used to remove acid gases from natural gas and petroleum gas, and to manufacture non-ionic detergents, emulsifiers, etc.
